RSB Berkane coach Mounir Jaounai speaks about loss to Al Masry

coach Mounir Jaouani spoke after the match against Al Masry on the fairness of the result and Al Masry coach Hossam Hassan.

Al Masry defeated Moroccan side RSB Berkane in Egypt on Sunday 1-0 to put the Green Eagles in first place in their group. The result comes a week after drawing 0-0 with the Berkane-based club in Morocco.

Head coach Mounir Jaouani spoke about his side’s defeat to Al Masry, while also emphasizing Hossam Hassan’s importance to Middle East football.

“Al Masry deserved to win the game after they were successful in converting one of their chances to score,  securing the win and three points which achieving top spot in the group,” Jaounai began.

Islam Issa scored the winning goal in Port Said in the 54th minute with a great shot from outside the box that left RSB Berkane’s goalkeeper unable to save it.

“The result was very fair. The team that had greater luck in utilizing its opportunities won the game,” the former KAC de Kénitra player added.

“I fully respect Al Masry headed by coach Hossam Hassan who deserves a great place in not just Egyptian heart but also in the hearts of all Arabs due to his great career as a player and coach,” Jaounai concluded.

After the clash, RSB Berkane still sit in good position to qualify to the quarter-finals alongside Al Masry with the Moroccan team sitting in second place with seven points.

Al Masry will kick-off their Egyptian Premier League campaign on August 2 against promoted side El Gouna. The Green Eagles will return to continental play on August 17 when they face União Desportiva Do Songo in Mozambique.
