Hector Cuper will be taking over , signing a four-year contract as he looks to guide the Asian side to the 2022 World Cup.

Cuper had guided Egypt to their first World Cup in 28 years following their 2-1 win over Congo back in October.

However, following that result, the Pharaohs went into a win-less run of nine games and failed to get a single point in their World Cup group, confirming Cuper’s departure.

Uzbekistan have never qualified for a World Cup in their history and they hope that Cuper could be able to replicate his success with Egypt.

The Argentinian coach will be leading Uzbekistan in the upcoming AFC Asian Cup in 2019. Their group includes Oman, Japan, and Turkmenistan.

        @El Phraoh,

        I actually think he’ll do very well there. It’s a country with no skills or expectations of winning with style so he’ll be able to implement his defensive ideology to greater effect. Additionally AFC quality is very low the the incremental impact of his organized team will be huge in Asia, he’ll win a lot of games i’m certain.
