Al Ahly fine Phakamani Mahlambi for missing training session
Al Ahly have fined South African winger Phakamani Mahlambi for missing Friday’s training session without permission, the Red Devils have announced.
The 20-year-old was so close to departing the club this summer and was linked with a return to South Africa, however, Al Ahly decided to register him in their squad following Junior Ajayi’s lengthy injury.
Mahlambi was not included in Al Ahly’s squad for their league opener against Ismaily on Thursday, and today he missed the team’s training session.
Al Ahly football director Mohamed Youssef has announced that Mahlambi will be fined for not showing up and that he will meet his agent to discuss the player’s position in the upcoming period.
It’s worth noting that the South African has also missed another training session last Wednesday due to illness.
Phakamani Mahlambi has joined Al Ahly last summer from Bidvest Wits, scoring once and providing five assists in 15 appearances since then.
