The Tigers managed to break the deadlock early in the game, as Evandro Goebel lobbed the ball past Aston Villa’s goalkeeper Jed Steer, just seven minutes into the game.

Hull City tried to restore their lead, however, the Villans maintained composure and defensive shape, ending the first-half 1-1.

20 minutes before full-time, the visitors took the lead through Ahmed Elmohamady after he unleashed a powerful low shot from the edge of the box, scoring his first goal since December 2015 against his former club.

The Egypt international was not done, as in the 75th minute he contributed in his side’s third goal of the game, providing an assist to Alan Hutton, who dribbled past Hull’s defenders and sent the ball home, making it 3-1.

Following the win, Villa earned their first three points of the campaign and are set to face Sam Morsy’s Wigan, who won their opening game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, the 11th of August.
