Nigeria’s Joel Obi completes move to Serie A side Chievo Verona
Nigerian international Joel Obi successfully completed his move to Serie A club Chievo Verona coming from rivals Torino.
The 27-year-old player, who was part of Nigeria’s squad in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, signed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee to play for Chievo Verona, with an option to add a fourth year.
Obi made 25 appearances with Torino in the 2017/18 season in the Serie A and Coppa Italia and was able to score six goals and made two assists.
“A new adventure is about to begin, but first of all I would like to thank my Torino teammates and all the staff for the unique years spent together,” the midfielder said on his Instagram account.
The player first moved to Italy in 2005 when he joined Inter Milan’s U-19 team. He then managed to play for the first team in 2010 before moving to Parma in 2013 on loan. After his loan ended, he returned to Inter for about a year then made the important move to Torino.
With Nigeria, Obi featured 17 times for the Super Eagles since he made his debut in early 2011.
