Three Ligue 1 clubs join chase for Al Ahly starlet Nasser Maher – Report

Three Ligue 1 clubs have reportedly joined the running to sign Al Ahly young midfielder , according to France Football.

The 21-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at Petrojet and Smouha, before returning to his parent club this season, starting Al Ahly’s two opening games against Ismaily and Al Masry.

Maher has been linked with a move to Udinese and Villarreal, however, Al Ahly director of football confirmed that the club have not received any formal offers for the playmaker.

And now according to France Football, French sides AS Monaco, Stade Caen, and Dijon FCO have joined the chase for the Egyptian starlet.

The Al Ahly youth product has also emerged as a target for several other Ligue 1 clubs, and the Red Devils will be hoping to hold on to him for as long as they can.

Maher, whose contract runs out in 2021, has made only three appearances for Al Ahly since being promoted to the first team, but is expected to be a key player for the Reds this season.

He has played 60 games for both Smouha and Petrojet, scoring two goals and registering five assists across all competitions.

Maher has also played a vital role in guiding Smouha to the Egypt Cup final last season, which they lost to Zamalek on penalties.

It’s not a chase until two or more clubs make an offer. Kingfut has gotten our hopes up a few times this offseason with such strong wording regarding Hegazi, Trezguet, Tarek Hamed and others and then nothing comes of it in terms of an offer from any of those “chasing” our players. Many of us are living outside Egypt and depend on you for news regarding our players and speaking for myself i’ve been left disappointed that no good transfers have happened this summer for our players which is the opposite of what Kingfut made it seem.
