Valentim leaves Pyramids over Ribamar dispute
Valentim had only joined the club in June having resigned from his role at Botafogo due to the allure of being the first manager in the history of Pyramids FC having been rebranded by Turki Al Sheikh this summer.
While Pyramids have enjoyed a fine start on the pitch picking up 7 points in 3 games, it is the matters off the pitch that resulted in Valentim’s departure.
With Pyramids’ owner Turki Al Sheikh also being the head honcho of Saudi football, there was perhaps a conflict of interest on his part as he intended to move Pyramids forward Ribamar to Saudi Professional League side Ohod.
Ribamar has been a big part of Pyramids’ early success in the Egyptian Premier League, and as such Valentim did not take Turki Al Sheikh’s plan well and the dispute has now reached the point where Valentim has left the club. Both Valentim and his assistant will be paid for the entirety of their two year contract at the club.
Pyramids’ new manager is still unknown, although it is believed that Ricardo La Volpe will take the helm as he is currently an advisor. Their next game is against El Dakhleya on August 26th at 6:15PM Egyptian time.
