Kasongo scores as Zamalek down Misr El-Makkasa 1-0
Kabongo Kasongo scored an early goal to snatch the full three points for Zamalek in the third fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.
Zamalek managed to break the deadlock just six minutes into the game, as Ibrahim Hassan’s crossed corner kick found Kasongo inside the box, who headed the ball past El-Makkasa’s goalkeeper Ahmed Adel.
John Antwi nearly pulled one back for El-Makkasa but his powerful header hit the crossbar in the 32nd minute.
Less than ten minutes later, Antwi came close to scoring once again, but his headed effort was brilliantly denied by Mahmoud Genesh.
67 minutes into game, Mohamed Toni saved El-Makkasa from a clear goal, following his outstanding goal line clearance.
In the dying moments of the game, Antwi was shown a straight red card for punching Baha’a Magdi.
The Whites maintained good defence and compusure until the referee blew the fulltime whistle.
Following the win, Zamalek tops the league table with seven points, while, El-Makkasa occupy the 12th league spot with three points.
The White Knights are set to face Nogoom FC on the 27th of August, meanwhile, El-Makkasa will face Ismaily on the 24th of the same month.
