Mohamed Elneny benched as Chelsea beat Arsenal in five-goal thriller
Arsenal have now lost their two opening games of the season after losing to both Manchester City and Chelsea.
Just nine minutes into the game Pedro opened the scoring for Chelsea after a great pass by Marcos Alonso. Arsenal nearly equalized in the 17th minute but Aubameyang missed an easy open opportunity.
Three minutes later Spanish striker Alvaro Morata scored Chelsea’s second goal ending his goal drought.
In the 32nd minute, Mikhitaryan missed another easy opportunity as his shot went over the post. Five minutes later the same player scored the Gunners’ first goal in the Premier League.
Arsenal constant domination following Chelsea’s second goal resulted in them scoring the equalizer after Alex Iwobi made a great shot from inside the penalty area. The Nigerian came back to miss an easy opportunity just one minute before the end of the first half.
In the 73rd minute, Chelsea got a free kick just outside the penalty box but David Luiz’s shot was brilliantly saved by Peter Cech. Eight minutes later Marcos Alonso scored the winning goal for the hosts.
In the 90th minute, Ramsey nearly equalized but his volley went just over the crossbar. In the dying moments of the game, French striker Olivier Giroud’s shot was denied by Cech.
Arsenal are currently 17th on the Premier League table with zero points, their next game will be against bottom-placed West Ham. Meanwhile, Chelsea are on top of the table with six points, they will face Newcastle in their next game.
