Al Masry have qualified for the quarter-finals of the after Morocco’s beat Al Hilal of Sudan 2-0 on Sunday.

The Port Said-based club failed to pick up the three points against Mozambique’s UD Songo, drawing 1-1 in Beira, meaning they needed Al Hilal to drop points against RS Berkane to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

Al Masry got what they wanted, as two strikes from Kodjo Laba and Alain Traoré helped RS Berkane top group B and eliminated Al Hilal from the tournament.

The Egyptian club are currently second in their group with nine points, one behind RS Berkane, while UD Songo and Al Hilal sit third and fourth respectively with three points.

There is only one game remaining in the group-stages, which will see Al Masry host Al Hilal in Port Said and RS Berkane face the Mozambican side in Morocco on August 29.

Al Masry is the only Egyptian club remaining in the competition after Zamalek were knocked out by Ethiopian side Welayta Dicha in the first round.
