Salah competes with Ronaldo, Modiric for CL Player of the Year award
Mohamed Salah was able to lead the Reds to the 2017/18 Champions League final match in Kiev, but was not able to continue the match as he picked up a shoulder injury following a heavy challenge with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
The Egyptian star made 13 appearances with Liverpool in the Champions League last season scoring 11 times and assisting on five occasions.
Ronaldo and Modric were key players in Real Madrid’s campaign as they helped their team win the trophy in Kiev. Croatia’s Modric also shined in the World Cup taking his national team to the final match which they lost against France.
All three players were selected by a jury of 80 coaches of the clubs that took part in in the group stages of the Champions League and Europa League last season, along with 55 journalists who were selected by the European Sports Media group, representing each of UEFA’s member associations.
The winner will be announced at the Champions League group stage draw in Monaco which will be held August 30.
