Abdoulay Diaby joins Sporting CP

Mali international has officially transferred to Portugal giants from Belgium’s after spending three years in the club ranks.

Diaby joined Club Brugge from Ligue 1 side Lille after spending a six-month loan spell between January and June 2015. Within three years, the Malian forward has featured in 108 games for Club Brugge, scoring 36 goals and assisting 20 others.

Club Brugge announced on Tuesday morning that the 27-year-old will join Sporting after an agreement between all parties had been reached.

It was expected that the deal would be finalised on Monday, but contractual details between Diaby and Sporting were not resolved yet the thing which postponed the deal announcement despite the player’s arrival in Lisbon, according to Portuguese outlet Record.

However, things have been sorted out between Diaby and his new club the following day and he will be presented in the next few hours.

Diaby has eight caps with the Malian national team. He got his international debut on October 11, 2014 in Mali’s 2-0 over Ethiopia in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
