VIDEO: Salah Mohsen scores late as Al Ahly down Wadi Degla

Salah Mohsen
Substitute has scored a late goal as Al Ahly defeated Wadi Degla 1-0 in the third round of the Egyptian Premier League.

The Red Devils tried to open the scoring early in the game as they applied pressure on Degla’s defence and they came so close to scoring when Walid Soliman went one-on-one with Mohamed Abdel-Monsef, but the goalkeeper had the upper hand.

Wadi Degla responded quickly as Mohamed Mahmoud unleashed a powerful shot from long distance, however, Al Ahly keeper Mohamed El-Shennawy turned the ball over the bar.

Just 12 minutes into the second-half, Nasser Maher wasted a glorious chance in front of goal, as his effort was saved by Abdel-Monsef.

Abdel-Monsef put on another brilliant save ten minutes later, to deny Salah Mohsen the opening goal from a close range.

Mohsen managed to finally break the deadlock in the 83rd minute, as he tapped Ali Maaloul’s cross into the net to seal the full three points for the Reds.

Following the win, Al Ahly sit second with seven points, while, Degla occupy the last league spot with an only single point.

The Red Devils are set to face Haras El-Hodood Friday, August 24, while, Degla will face Misr El-Makassa on September 12.

Mohammed Salama is a 21-year-old who fell in love with football since Egypt's AFCON final match against Ivory Coast! Strangely enough an Al Ahly and Al Masry fan locally. In addition, he's a hardcore Bayern Munich supporter.
