Abdel Shafy included, Abdallah excluded in Al Ahli foreign player list

Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli have listed the five foreign players who will be competing for the club in the .

With the rules of the friendly competition permitting five foreign players per team, Al Ahli of Jeddah have named their list with Omar Al Somah (Syria), Djaniny (Cape Verde), Alexis (Spain), Paulo Diaz (Chile) and Mohamed Abdel Shafy (Egypt) making the cut.

Notable exclusions include new signings Jurado and Souza, however the exclusion that will surprise fans of Egyptian football is that of Abdallah El Said who had recently joined the club following his infamous contract dispute with Al Ahly and Zamalek which led to the attacking midfielder spending a period on loan at KuPS in the Finnish league.

Other clubs involved in the competition include the likes of Al Ahly, Zamalek, Wydad Casablanca, Raja Casablanca, Esperance, ES Setif, Al Ain, Al Hilal and Al Ittihad.

The squad will face UAE’s Al Wasl on August 24th in Jeddah, before travelling to Dubai for the return leg on the 30th of September.
