Turki Al Sheikh: It will take Pyramids from three to five years to win titles
Chairman of Saudi General Sports Authority and owner of Pyramids FC Turki Al Sheikh has admitted that the re-branded Egyptian outfit needs between three and five years to build a strong base in order to compete for titles.
Al Sheikh had completed an acquisition deal to take over Pyramids FC, then known as Assiouty Sport, in June 2018. The Saudi official overhauled the club’s administration and first team. Pyramids have spent the most out of all Egyptian Premier League teams in the transfer market, forming a new squad and hiring an all-Brazilian technical staff.
“Pyramids need from three to five years to form a solid base in order to win titles and compete against clubs that exists for more than 100 years,” Al Sheikh posted on Facebook.
“The favourites for the league and cup will be between Al Ahly and Zamalek, while the fight for the third place will be between Smouha and Al Masry and the one for the fourth and fifth place will be between Ismaily, Pyramids and Petrojet.”
Pyramids were off to a good start in the league after collecting seven points from their first three games with two wins and one draw.
