Al Ain winger has conveyed that his priority is to win the against Al Wehda amid reports Egypt coach Javier Aguirre will be attending the final showdown.

El-Shahat was included in Al Ain squad which will take on fellow UAE club Al Wehda for the Arabian Gulf Super Cup which will be hosted on Saturday, August 25 in Cairo.

The 27-year-old has also been called up for Egypt’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger by Aguirre, who is expected to be in attendance for the super cup game to observe the former Misr El-Makkasa attacking midfielder.

“I will play with all my strength and give my best and will not focus on Aguirre’s attendance to not distract myself,” El-Shahat said in the pre-match press conference.

“I want to win and lift the cup. A great amount of my friends want to attend the match and I think there will be plenty of fans in the stadium. Al Wehda is a strong side, our 6-1 victory over them last year doesn’t mean anything. This game will be difficult on both of us.”

“Amoury’s departure? He is one of the best players in Asia but his departure won’t affect me or my teammates,” he concluded.

El-Shahat joined the UAE league title holders in January 2018 on loan before making his move permanent during last season. The Egypt international featured in 17 games scoring eight goals and delivering 13 assists.
