Saudi FF: Zamalek to face Ittihad, Al Hilal on Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup
The general secretary of the Saudi Football Federation Loay Al Sebeiy had confirmed last month that a Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup will take place, with Al Ahly and Zamalek facing Al Hilal and Ittihad respectively set as the initial fixtures.
However, Al Hilal issued a statement confirming that the Riyadh giants will not be able to feature due to not finding a suitable timing for the encounter with Al Ahly which led to the Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup to be cancelled, before the Saudi FF decided to bring the idea to life again.
The Saudi football governing body stated that Zamalek will take Al Ahly’s place and face the two Saudi giants. The Whites will play against Ittihad in Saudi Arabia on November 5 for the Kings Cup, while the second game will be against Al Hilal in Egypt on November 10 for President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi Cup.
The Saudi federation announced that the prize money is 2 million USD, 1 million for the winner of each game. They have also expressed gratitude towards Zamalek president Mortada Mansour for his strong backing of the idea and his insistence for the Super Cup games to take place.
