Salah has missed out on the Best Forward award at the award ceremony, which took place alongside the draw for the 2018-19 Champions League group stage.

The Portuguese legend winning the award comes as little surprise as he scored 15 goals for in their campaign which saw them beat Salah’s Liverpool to win their 13th Champions League title.

Despite scoring important goals against the likes of Paris Saint Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund, highlight of Ronaldo’s campaign came in the quarter final when he scored an iconic overhead kick against Juventus – the club he went on to sign for following the 2017-18 season.

While Salah did not win this award, he had a very successful campaign of his own having scored 10 goals as Liverpool surprisingly reached their first Champions League final since 2007, with his highlight being in the semi final against his former club Roma where he scored two and assisted two in the home leg at Anfield.

Salah will now focus on the upcoming Champions League campaign, as Liverpool were drawn in an extremely tough group alongside Paris Saint Germain, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade.
