South African forward has left Al Ahly for South African giants following his disappointing spell in Egypt.

The 20 year old joined Al Ahly from Bidvest Wits last summer, however he has made just 8 league appearances since joining. While he was extremely promising previously in , he joined the Egyptian giants following a big injury layoff after helping Bidvest Wits to a surprise league title.

Mamelodi Sundowns are currently on a rebuilding process having gone out in the 2018 CAF Champions League group stage behind Wydad Casablanca and Horoya, and Mahlambi may act as a replacement for Zimbabwean star Khama Billiat who recently moved to league rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

Mahlambi will now look to work his way back into the South African national team, for whom he last played in March with five caps to his name. He was not called up for their upcoming friendly on the 8th of September against Libya.

Pitso Mosimane may give Mahlambi his debut in Sundowns’ next game against Cape Town City on Sunday September 2nd at 3PM Egyptian time in a cup semi final second leg, with Sundowns 1-0 down from the first leg.
