Speaking after Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Leicester City, Sadio Mane defended the form of his teammates Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Mane scored his fourth goal in four games to give a 1-0 lead. Mane leads the team in goals with four, while Salah has two and Firmino has one.

When asked about the goal scoring gap between him and his strike partners, Mane defended their dips in form. “I think it is too early to speak about that, we had 10-15 days preseason so we need a few more weeks to get our best,” Mane explained.

“Even me, all three we will try to work hard and get better and better. I am very happy to score goals, but more important is the three points we got.

“It was not our best game but our attitude made the big difference we struggled but pushed as a team.”

The win took Liverpool to 12 points in four matches; they currently sit atop the Premier League table. Mane is also currently leading the Premier League Golden Boot race.

Despite their perfect record, Mane admitted his team’s deficiencies, “We have improved a lot, and still have something to prove.

“Even when not at our best we’re going to try to take it game by game and try to win everything in the season,” Mane concluded.

The Reds’ next game will be at Tottenham on Saturday, September 15.
