Al Ahly boss Carteron speaks ahead of Champions League draw

Patrice Carteron

Ahead of the  quarter-finals draw, Al Ahly head coach assured that his side are ready to face any opponent and have their eyes set on winning.

After successfully leading their group with 13 points, the Red Devils will face one of Algeria’s ES Sétif, Horoya AC of Guinea, or Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

The draw for this stage will be revealed on Monday with Al Ahly in Pot 2 as winners of Group A.

“We respect all of our opponents,” Carteron told the club’s official website. “We also have a clear goal which is to continue our successful campaign to win the current version of the Champions League.”

The coach pointed out that for him and his team all matches in all competitions are tough. He also said that players are eager to clinch the African championship and make the fans happy.

“We performed well so far and were able to secure four consecutive wins and lead our group,” he added. “I am following our opponents closely of course and know how they have been performing in the tournament.

“The moment Al Ahly’s opponent for the next round is announced we will start reviewing everything about them to prepare well before meeting in the first leg match.”

Al Ahly is aiming to secure their ninth title after losing last season’s final match to Wydad.
