Retired right back Michel Salgado will officially join technical staff after he was appointed as an assistant to head coach Javier Aguirre.

As a player, Salgado had a stunning long spell with Real Madrid where he shined and managed to win multiple trophies including two UEFA Champions League titles. He later moved to England in 2009 to join Blackburn Rovers as his last stop before retiring.

Salgado returned to football briefly in April 2018 to play with Argentinian side Independiente F.C. against C.D. Plaza Amador in the quarter-finals of Argentine’s Clausura tournament.

The Egyptian Football Association ‘EFA’ announced the news in a press release on Monday revealing that Salgado will be appointed as a third assistant to Aguirre, alongside Spanish assistant coach Tito Garcia Sanjuan and former Egypt icon Hani Ramzi.

With a nine-game winless run, having not won a game since their 2-1 win over Congo last October, the Pharaohs are eager to defeat Niger, Aguirre’s first game in charge, in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifications match taking place in Alexandria.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
