Volleyball: Egypt’s women U-20 team crowned African champions
Egyptian volleyball team successfully won the 2018 Women’s U- 20 African Nations Championship after they defeated Rwanda in the final match.
Egypt secured a smooth 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-10, 25-13) over Rwanda at Moi International Sports Complex in Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday.
Both Egypt and Rwanda booked their tickets to the 2019 Women’s World Championship which will be held in Mexico.
The Pharaohs qualified to the final after beating Nigeria 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-8) in the semi-final while Rwanda qualified for their first final after a 3-1 (28-26, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22) win over dark horses Cameroon.
Egypt’s volleyball team dominated the championship as this is the eighth title for the team in a row out of all nine editions till now in this age category.
Cameroon were able to clinch the bronze medal after beating Nigeria 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-16) in the third-place match.
