CAF Champions League champions recognise potential opponent as Club World Cup draw revealed
The draw of Club World Cup, which will be played in the United Arab of Emirates this December, has taken place in Zurich and has disclosed about the CAF Champions League champion potential opponent.
The confirmed participants in the competition so far are UAE’s Al Ain, who are the hosting country’s league champions, CONCACAF Champions League champions CD Guadalajara, OFC Champions League Wellington Phoenix FC and UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid.
Draw disclosed that Club World Cup opening encounter will be held between Hussein El-Shahat’s Al Ain and Wellington Phoenix on December 12, with the winner set to face the African champion, which will be revealed on November 8, on December 15.
CD Guadalajara will also face the AFC Champions League champions, who is yet to be identified, on December 15. Furthermore, the winner of the game between the potential African champion and the winner from Al Ain-Wellington game will set up a meeting against Copa Libertadores champions in the semifinal on December 18.
Meanwhile the winner from Guadalajara and Asia champions will play against Real Madrid in the second semifinal tie, with the third place game and final scheduled to take place on December 22.
