Geoffrey Kondogbia given all-clear to represent Central African Republic
Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has been given the all-clear to represent and play for Central African Republic after he was called for the team’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea.
Kondogbia took his decision after representing France on five occasions, but none of the five times he featured in was in an official match. The 25-year-old midfielder graduated through different youth France teams and won the U-20 World Cup in 2013.
FIFA have cleared Kondogbia to play for CAR as he holds dual nationality and has not played for France in a competitive fixture.
Central African Republic decided to call up Kondogbia for their upcoming AFCON qualifier, but due to an injury the former Inter Milan player decided to withdraw from the squad.
CAR were drawn in Group H along with Guinea, Ivory Coast and Rwanda in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers. They were off to a positive start when they defeated Rwanda in their group opener.
