Aguirre: We want to start a new course for Egypt
Egypt are targeting to qualify to the upcoming 2019 AFCON which is set to take place in Cameroon. The Pharaohs were drawn in the qualifiers Group J along with Tunisia, Niger and Swaziland.
Egypt had suffered a 0-1 defeat in their group opening game against Tunisia in Rades last year and hope to get back on track in the group.
“I signed a deal with the Egyptian Football Association on August 15, since that time I have watched around 20 games [of the Egyptian national team] as well as all the Premier League matches,” Aguirre said in the pre-Niger match press conference.
“Of course we had little time in our hands but we are optimistic. We are not going to look back at the World Cup period, we want to make a new history. I insisted on calling new faces in order to build a new young team.”
“The changes in playing style compared to Hector Cuper’s? I respect everybody but my training sessions were different.”
