Elmohamady: Egypt are only looking forward
Egypt will be facing Niger on Saturday, September 8 in the second round of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Borg Al Arab Stadium. The Pharaohs had a sloppy start to their campaign in the qualifiers with a 0-1 defeat to Tunisia in the first round.
The Pharaohs coach Javier Aguirre announced on Friday that the Aston Villa right back will become the new national team captain following the international retirement of Essam El-Hadary, followed by Mohamed Elneny, then Ahmed Hegazi and Mohamed Salah.
“We have put the previous period behind us and are only focused with Aguirre on the future. We have big ambitions to reach as far as possible with our new coach and it is good to start things at home,” Elmohamady stated in pre-match presser.
“Fans attendance will have a positive role so we are waiting for our fans in the coming games. Of course Aguirre belongs to a different coaching school to the one of Hector Cuper. There are some tactical surprises you will witness tomorrow that I can’t discuss at the moment,” he concluded.
