Niger keeper proud of saving Salah’s penalties

’s goalkeeper has spoken of his pride of saving two Mohamed Salah penalties despite the convincing manner of Egypt’s win.

With Egypt winning 6-0, you would not expect the goalkeeper to be proud of his performance. However, Kassaly Daouda has said he will always remember his encounter with the Pharaohs as he was able to save two penalties from a star of African football in Mohamed Salah.

Egypt won a penalty in the first minute however Salah’s effort was saved by Daouda. Midway through the first half, the Liverpool star had another bite of the cherry however once again Daouda was equal to his effort, although this time Salah converted from the rebound.

Following the game, Daouda said “I have entered history with two penalties against Salah. Despite the success of Salah in the second kick, I am very happy with what I did.”

He continued, “I will be proud and honored to be successful in front of my children.”

Daouda will have another chance to impress against top quality opposition when Niger have their next international break when they will face Tunisia in another AFCON qualifying double header in mid October.

Egypt’s next game will be another AFCON qualifier against Swaziland at home on October 10th, before travelling down south for the return leg three days later.
