Salah fails to score for second game in row as Liverpool beat Tottenham
Liverpool have defeated Tottenham at away Wembley, thanks to goals from Wijnadlum and Firmino, as Mohamed Salah played the full 90 minutes.
The Egyptian started alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the attack, with the hosts going into the game without two of their key players, Deli Alli and Hugo Lloris.
Both teams started off slow and picked up their pace as the match progressed. In the 21st minute, Salah missed an easy shot as he went through on goal, but his shot was saved by Vorm.
In the 29th minute, Christian Eriksen had a chance to open the scoring for Tottenham, but his free-kick was comfortably saved by Alisson.
Georginio Wijnaldum gave the lead to Liverpool in the 40th minute, converting James Milner’s corner with a powerful header.
In the second half, Liverpool started off much stronger as Mane almost doubled their lead, but it was Firmino who scored the second goal for the Reds after a good combination between Mane and Robertson.
Liverpool kept the pressure on as Vorm was forced to make more saves to deny Keita and Mohamed Salah from scoring the third goal.
Minutes before the full-time whistle, Lamela pulled one back for Spurs, but it was too late to snatch them a point, as Liverpool maintained their 100% winning start.
Liverpool’s next match will be against PSG in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, September 18, while Tottenham will face Inter Milan on the same day.
