Al Ahly boss Patrice Carteron insists Horoya clash won’t be easy
Al Ahly boss Patrice Carteron insists it won’t be easy for his side to qualify for the semi finals of the Champions League, saying the Reds are fully focused on the return-leg.
A 1-0 win will be enough for Carteron’s men to qualify for the semi-finals after both sides played out a 0-0 draw in Conakry last Friday.
“Horoya want to qualify for the next round, which means that the players need to be fully focused on the match,” Carteron told Al Ahly’s official website.
“We have never underestimated Horoya, they remind me of TP Mazembe. The Congolese side started as a small team and now they are lifting prestigious trophies.”
The French manager led TP Mazembe to two league titles, three African Super Cup titles, and one African Champions League title in 2015.
“The first-leg is now over and we aren’t thinking about it. All our concentration now is on the second-leg next Saturday in Cairo,” Carteron said.
“We will get prepared in a different way for the second-leg and I hope we can continue our journey in this tournament,” he concluded.
