Salah: Liverpool can win Champions League, Premier League double
Mohamed Salah believes Liverpool can win the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League titles this season and has lifted the lid on life at the Reds.
Liverpool have finished fourth in the Premier League last season, but have started this season strong, winning their opening five league games.
Their first continental game will be against Paris Saint-Germain in the group-stages on Tuesday as they will hope to reach the final for the second season in a row.
Salah says Liverpool have what it takes to win a Champions League and Premier League double, and also praised their next opponents PSG.
“Last season, we eliminated Manchester City then Roma, who beat Barcelona in the quarter-finals,” Salah told France Football.
“We played against teams who had won the title before and we still managed to reach the final, so of course, we can do it again.
“I’m sure we can win it. We could even win both the Champions League and the Premier League. I don’t want to put pressure on the team, but anything is possible.
“PSG have exceptional individuals & a great squad. I can’t wait to play against them! I expect an intense & enjoyable match,” he added.
The Egyptian also spoke about his relationship with Jurgen Klopp, saying: “From my 1st day with the Reds, he has treated me like a friend. We talked together & there was something very strong between us right away.
“All I can say is that he knows how to treat each player mentally. Everyone feels good with him.”
Salah concluded by revealing his close friendship with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, and also has lifted the lid on the relationship he has with the club’s fans.
“We are friends, we speak a lot. Generally, all 3 of us sit in the dressing room together, right after matches. There is a real solidarity between us, as we do not care who scores the most or first.
“Within a month or two, I had my own song, it is so special. Since I arrived, I’ve felt this passion & love. They are quite simply the best,” Salah said.
