Carteron: Al Ahly got an all-round strong team, await our fans against Horoya
Al Ahly coach Patrice Carteron has lauded his squad as a complete one that can cope with absences and injuries and also expressed his surprise from the knock out of Congolese side TP Mazembe.
Al Ahly will face Horoya in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals on Saturday. The Red Devils came back to Egypt with a goal-less draw in the first leg clash in Conakry.
Carteron has mentioned his former side Mazembe, after the Congolese team was knocked out by Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto in the same stage of the competition on Friday.
“Mazembe’s exit was surprising but it simultaneously shows that the competition is tough this season. But we have the ambition of going as far as possible,” Carteron said in pre-match press conference.
“Horoya is a good team that have a great spirit but we managed to create several chances against them in the first leg but weren’t lucky to score. We hope to be lucky this time and translate our chances to goals.”
“Certainly I won’t speak about our playing method for tomorrow but we can cope with the absences and injuries that hit the team as of late.”
