Mido says Mohamed Salah is having a ‘hangover season’
Former Tottenham Hotspur and national team striker Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ explained why Mohamed Salah is considered out-of-form a few games after his second season with Liverpool started.
Mohamed Salah recently ended his three-game goal drought against Southampton as Liverpool have beat the Saints 3-0 at Anfield in the sixth round of the Premier League.
The Egyptian scored his side’s third goal after Shaqiri’s free-kick hit the post and he tapped it in.
“The second season anywhere is always harder. The English call it the hangover season,” Mido told MBC Masr TV channel.
“First of all, the players you faced before now know your style. If you watched Liverpool’s game with Leicester City you will notice that their goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was anticipating Salah’s shots before he actually sent them.”
“I am positive that Salah’s teammates want to help him get back on track because one of his main assets is his good relations with everyone around him and that is important.
“He has to lose the pressure he’s carrying. Everyone is adding more and more pressure on him. Football is not easy, you have to be smart to be able to play without any stress. He is already a great player and doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone,” he concluded.
