Obama scores as Zamalek defeat Arab Contractors 2-1

Yousef Obama’s late strike secured the full three points for Zamalek as they defeated Arab Contractors 2-1 in the eighth fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.

Zamalek got off to a flyer, when they were awarded a penalty kick after Arab Contractors’ defender handled the ball inside the box. Mahmoud Alaa calmly converted from the spot to break the deadlock in the 6th minute, marking his sixth league goal this season.

Contractors responded in the 31st minute, when youngster Taher Mohamed squared the ball Islam Foad, whose powerful low strike drilled into the back of Mahmoud ‘Genesh’s net.

59 minutes into the game, Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ nearly restored the lead for the White Knights, however, his splended shot cannoned off the left post.

Just five minutes before the fulltime whistle, Yousef ‘Obama’ snatched the full three points for Zamalek, as he received Omar El-Said’s headed pass and Advanced towards the box, before slotting the ball brilliantly past Hassan Shahin.

Following the win, Zamalek top the league table with 17 points ahead of their anticipated encounter against Pyramids.

Meanwhile, Arab Contractors occupy the 13th spot with seven points and will face Ismaily next week.
