Ittihad of Alexandria appoint Helmy Toulan as new head coach
Omar, who left the club by mutual consent, left the Alexandrian club in the 14th place, one point away from safety after losing winning only one league game from seven.
The club have confirmed that former Zamalek manager Toulan will take over with immediate effect and his first game in charge will be against Wadi Degla on Friday, September 28.
Toulan’s management team will be a totally different one to Mohamed Omar’s as the club decided it would be better if Toulan chose his own staff.
The 68-year-old was last in charge of El-Geish, who sacked him last May, and has also previously managed Smouha and Harras El-Hoodod, Zamalek, Al Masry, Petrojet, El Shorta, and Etisalat.
Ittihad of Alexandria are also participating in the Arab Club Championship, where they reached the second round after knocking out title holders Espérance de Tunis.
