Former Man City player consoles Salah after losing out to Modric in The Best awards
Salah made it to the final three-player shortlist for the best player in the world along with Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo. The 26-year-old forward finished third in the annual FIFA award behind the winner Modric and Ronaldo who came in the second place.
The 2017/2018 English Premier League Player of the Year became the first Egyptian to be among the final three for the best player award.
“How much we wished this accolade to be Mohamed Salah’s. Anyway, him competing with Modric and Ronaldo is an enormous achievement. God willing the best is yet to come for him,” Trabelsi wrote on Twitter.
The Liverpool hero did not leave the event empty-handed, however, and captured the FIFA Puskas award for his goal against Everton in the Merseyside derby last season.
