ES Setif midfielder: Facing Al Ahly is tough, we will give our best
ES Setif midfielder Amir Karaoui has admitted that their anticipated clash against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League semifinal will be complicated due to the Egyptian giants’ wide experience in the tournament.
Al Ahly had beaten Guinean side Horoya AC 4-0 on September 22 to qualify for the semi-final of the Champions League having ended the first leg tie in Conakry with a goalless draw.
The Algerian outfit ES Setif also advanced to the penultimate round after knocking out the title holders Wydad Casablanca with 1-0 victory on aggregate.
The first leg match will take place on October 2 in Cairo, while the return leg will be played in Algeria on October 23.
“It will be difficult to play against Al Ahly, they are the most decorated club in the African continent. Nonetheless, things change on the pitch,” Karaoui said.
“We will give our utmost effort and try to make use of playing the first game away from home to gain a positive result which would facilitate the tie for us. The team is very enthused to face Al Ahly and reach the final.”
