Zamalek president Mortada Mansour banned by CAF for one year
The decision comes after Mansour insulted CAF President Ahmad Ahmad and General Secretary Amr Fahmy, violating articles 131 and 132.
The CAF have released a statement in which they have announced heavy sanctions against Zamalek and their president Mortada Mansour, which will see the latter suspended from all football-related activities for one year.
“Arising out of a complaint and report received in regard to the conduct of the President of Zamalek FC Mr Mortada Mansour, a Preliminary investigation was instituted by the Secretariat in terms of art. 44 of the CAF Disciplinary Code,” A CAF statement read.
“As a result thereof and after deliberation the committee found that the behaviour of the President of Zamalek FC Mr Mortada Mansour was in contravention of art. 87 and as such was punishable in terms of art. 85.1 read together with art. 131.1 and 131.2 and 132.1.
“As Such the Committee resolved to implement the provisions of art. 98 which provisions would be in accordance with art. 41.1
“As such, the President of Zamalek FC Mr Mortada Mansour, is hereby banned from performing any kind of Football related activity (administrative, sports or any other) for a period of 1 (one) year and is further fined the sum of US$40 000 (Forty thousand US Dollars).”
They added that Mansour has three days to notify CAF of his intention to appeal the decision, saying “The decision becomes final at the expiration of the appeal deadline.”
