Al Ahly defender Ayman Ashraf: We’re ready for ES Setif
Ayman Ashraf and his teammates had beaten Guinean side Horoya AC 4-0 on September 22 to qualify for the semi-final of the Champions League having ended the first leg tie in Conakry with a goalless draw.
The Algerian outfit ES Setif also advanced to the penultimate round after knocking out the title holders Wydad Casablanca with 1-0 victory on aggregate.
“We’re completely ready to face ES Setif and will not give up our dream of winning the championship,” Ashraf told the club’s official website. “We’re done with the Arab Championship for now and we’re preparing well for meeting ES Setif which will be a crucial match in our campaign.”
Al Ahly will host the first leg match which will take place on October 2 in Cairo, while the return leg will be played in Algeria on October 23.
“The players are capable of achieving a positive result in the first leg to secure our ticket to the final game,” he added. “ES Setif is one of the toughest teams in the Champions League, they are aiming to continue their successful campaign but we have bigger aspirations as we’re hoping to win the title and represent the African continent in the Club World Cup.”
