CAF hand Sherif Ekramy two-game suspension
CAF explained the reason behind the suspension in a letter that was sent to the Red Castle saying that Ekramy started a quarrel with the ambulance crew during Al Ahly and Horoya first-leg clash in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Al Ahly was informed before by CAF that they may be forced to play their next two contentinal matches behind closed doors after their fans’ behavior during the same game.
The club’s staff led by head coach Patrice Carteron expressed their surprise to Al Ahly’s official website as they believe the goalie did not show any unacceptable behavior towards anyone in the game, in addition to Ekramy being present normally in the squad for the second leg.
Due to the suspension, the Reds will have to depend on Mohamed El-Shennawy and Aly Lotfi when they host Algerian side ES Sétif in the Champions League semi-final match on October 2 and when travelling to face them for the second-leg on October 23.
