Al Ahly’s former forward  has been officially registered as a player for Championship club Partick Thistle after receiving permission from FIFA.

Egypt FA recently blocked the player’s transfer refusing to send Partick Thistle Coulibaly’s International Transfer Certificate ‘ITC’, however, FIFA issued a temporary ITC after the Scottish FA requested to revoke the refusal, which will allow the club to register their new player.

“International clearance has been received by the Club and Souleymane is eligible to face Ross County on Saturday,” the club announced on their official Twitter account.

Souleymane Coulibaly has been on a mission to resurrect his career since his controversial departure from the Red Devils in 2017, and it seems that he will be able to return to Scottish football playing for Partick Thistle which he officially joined in August 2018.

“It’s great news and we are ecstatic to finally get Souleymane properly registered to play with Partick Thistle Football Club,” club Chief Executive, Gerry Britton, said. “He has obviously been through a tough time recently and, having spoken to him on numerous occasions since he first arrived at the Club, I know he is simply desperate to get back playing football.”

Britton assured that the club worked hard on this case and thanked the Scottish FA for its assistance wishing Coulibaly a successful season.

“I am absolutely delighted to be allowed to play football again and I cannot wait to get back on the pitch. It has been a very difficult time for me but I just need to put that behind me now and concentrate on playing the game that I love,” said the 23-year-old player.

“I haven’t played a proper match in quite some time now so I know there is still a lot of hard work to do before I will be back to my best but I am determined that I will get there.

“I would like to thank the Club for all the support and I hope to be able to repay some of the faith they have shown in me as soon as possible,” he concluded.

Partick Thistle can use Coulibaly’s services as they are currently seventh in the Scottish Championship with nine points after three victories and four losses.
