Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: Hussein El-Sayed helps Al Ettifaq keep clean sheet

KingFut rounds up the Pharaohs Abroad action this week to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.

 – Al Ettifaq (Saudi Arabia)

September 27 – Saudi Pro League – Al Ahly loanee Hussein El-Sayed helped Al Ettifaq keep a clean sheet against Ohod as they played out a 0-0 draw in the fourth round of the Saudi Pro League. Despite being the away side, Ohod dominated the game, however, they failed to convert their chances. Al Ettifaq are now third in the table while Ohod are 12th.

– Arsenal (England)

September 29 – English Premier League – Mohamed Elneny was excluded from the Arsenal squad that beat Watford 2-0 in the seventh fixture of the Premier League. Craig Cathcart’s own goal opened the scoring in the 81st minute, before Mesut Ozil doubled the lead for the Gunners just two minutes later. The win takes Arsenal to the fifth spot with 15 points ahead of their Europa League clash against Qarabag FK on the 4th of October.

– Huddersfield Town (England)

September 29 – English Premier League – Ramadan Sobhi’s injury absence has continued as his Huddersfield Town fell to a 2-0 home defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, thanks to Harry Kane’s brace. The English forward scored the first goal in the 25th minute, before doubling the lead through a penalty nine minutes later. The Terriers are currently bottom of the league table and their next game will be against Burnley on Saturday, October 6.

– Wigan Athletic (England)

September 29 – English Championship – Sam Morsy played 88 minutes in Wigan’s 1-0 loss to Norwich City in the tenth fixture of the Championship. Mario Vrančić’s late penalty secured the full three points for the home side, as Wigan dropped to the eighth league spot with 16 points and will face Swansea City next week.

– West Bromwich Albion (England)

September 29 – English Championship – Ahmed Hegazi featured in West Brom’s difficult 3-2 victory over Preston North London in the tenth fixture of the Championship. Jay Rodriguez opened the scoring for the Baggies in the 48th minute, before Andrew Hughes equalised for the home side in the 71st minute. An own goal from Ben Davies and Dwight Gayle’s strike gave West Brom a 3-1 lead, before Alan Browne scored a late consolation goal. Following the win, the Baggies top the league table with 20 points ahead of their encounter against Sheffield Wednesday on the 3rd of October.

– AE Larissa (Greece)

September 29 – Greek Super League – Bassem Morsi played 15 minutes as AE Larissa beat Panaitolikos Agrinio 1-0 in the Greek Super League. Serbian midfielder Radomir Milosavljevic scored the winner just three minutes into the game. Morsi then came on in the 75th minute for Spanish striker Piti. Following this result, Larissa are currently eighth on the Greek League table with six points. They will face Panionios Athens in their next game in the Greek Cup on October 3.

Karim Hafez – İstanbul Başakşehir (Turkey)

October 1 – Turkish Super League – Karim Hafez remained on the bench as Istanbul Basaksehir drew 1-1 against Yeni Malatyaspor in the seventh fixture of the Turkish Super League. Following the draw, Basaksehir occupy the second league spot with 14 points ahead of their next clash against Fenerbahce on the 7th of October.

Ahmed Elmohamady – Aston Villa (England)

October 2 – English Championship – Ahmed Elmohamady assisted Aston Villa’s opening goal as they drew 3-3 against Preston North End in the 11th fixture of the Championship. The Egypt international’s cross found Jonathan Kodjia, who headed back across goal to put Villa 1-0 up after 26 minutes. The draw takes the Villans to the 12th spot ahead of their encounter against Millwall next week.

Sam Morsy – Wigan Athletic (England)

October 2 – English Championship – Sam Morsy was excluded from the Wigan squad that played out a goalless draw against Swansea City in the 11th fixture of the Championship. Following the draw, Wigan occupy the seventh league spot with 17 points and are set to face Preston North End on the 6th of October.
