Sherif Ekramy questions CAF over suspension

Sherif Ekramy
goalkeeper displayed his confusion regarding the decision to suspend him from the Champions League semi-final against ES Setif.

Sherif Ekramy was handed a two-match suspension by CAF after his argument with the AC Horoya medical staff in the quarter-final first leg in Guinea.

Regarding the matter, Ekramy took to Twitter to question the sanction.

“The truth regarding what happened between me and the Horoya medic in Guinea due to their treatment of our injured players was a normal argument that did not get to the point of an issue to be explained or given an excuse for. The decision to suspend me came due to the match observer’s report who did not even see the incident and is build on weird things that did not happen,” Ekramy posted.

The 35-year-old went to hint that maybe the suspension did not come because of that incident.

“I did not cross the line on the pitch to be suspended off it this way. I respect CAF and their decisions but did the incident that happened really need suspension or even a sanction? And why was I not suspended for the second leg of the encounter? Is it this simple to ban players from playing the final stages? Finally, is the report really the reason to my suspension!!” Ekramy questioned.

It is worth noting that this is the second sanction by CAF on Al Ahly ever since their fans aimed verbal insults against Pyramids FC owner and Saudi Arabia Minister of Sports Turki Al Sheikh in the second leg of the clash against Horoya in Cairo.
