Ministry of Youth and Sports clears Al Ahly off wrongdoing over Al-Sheikh’s donations
A committee related to the Egyptian Ministry of Youth & Sports have cleared Al Ahly off wrongdoing and confirmed the correctness of their legal position regarding the donations received from club’s former honourary president Turki Al-Sheikh.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports had submitted a report to acquit the Red Devils from any guilt regarding receiving donations from Al-Sheikh after the head of Saudi General Sports Authority rewarded the team for winning the 2017/2018 Egyptian Premier League title.
However, the report noted that Al Ahly that the amount received should have been deposited in the club’s account prior to distributing it to the players and staff. Furthermore, the ministry informed the club that they should have informed the country’s administrative body before receiving these donations.
The committee authorised to record Al Ahly’s donations confirmed that the Egypt giants received around 119M EGP from Al-Sheikh.
