Mohamed Elneny features in Arsenal’s victory over Qarabag FK
Egypt International Mohamed Elneny played the full 90 minutes as Arsenal secured a comfortable 3-0 away victory over Qarabag FK in the UEFA Europa League.
Arsenal had a bright start to the game as Mohamed Elneny was on verge of breaking the deadlock after three minutes but his close-range effort was blocked by a Qarabag defender.
One minute later, Arsenal took the lead quickly after Elneny’s corner found Nacho Monreal whose header was deflected by Sokratis into the net to put Arsenal in front.
In the 18th minute, Alex Iwobi fed Sead Kolasinac on the left side, who played a low cross to Emile Smith-Rowe whose touch couldn’t find the net.
Five minutes away from the half-time whistle, Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno was forced to make a great save to deny Anis Agolli’s half-volley to keep Arsenal in front as both teams head to the dressing rooms.
The Azerbaijani team were the better side over the start of the second-half but they struggled with the final touch to find the net.
However in the 53rd minute, Emile Smith-Rowe received a great ball from Iwobi before finishing from close range into the net to double Arsenal’s lead.
Arsenal’s manager Unai Emery made some changes to his side in order to force his domination over the game as he brought in Mesut Ozil and Alexander Lacazette.
Ten minutes away from the final whistle, Matteo Guendouzi finished off a smart play from Arsenal into the net to secure the three points for the Gunners.
Arsenal, after grabbing their second successive victory, have kept their place in the top of the group with six points, only ahead of Sporting Lisbon on goal difference.
