Morsy talks to Wigan fans ahead of derby with Preston
Despite Preston being far more experienced at that level, it is Wigan who are doing better in the league as they currently reside in 9th place, just five points away from the leaders Leeds, while Preston are at the bottom of the table on 6 points.
Nevertheless, the match between Preston and Wigan is tipped to be a memorable one as it will operate as one of the many Lancashire derbies at that level. Such is the potential intensity of the fixture that club captain Sam Morsy has sent a message to the Wigan fans.
The 27 year old midfielder said “You look at the fixture list and its one you’re looking forward to, a great one for us to get back into the top 6. It’s a bit of a derby as well, it’s going to be a great atmosphere. The fans are going to be there in force, and we’ve seen many games where they have been there so it’s really great.”
Morsy also reminded the fans to try not to cause any trouble despite the nature of the game, saying “The safety is paramount. Have a great time but try to be safe, not with the flares and all that when we hopefully celebrate the victory.”
Wigan travel to Deepdale to face Preston at 4PM Egyptian time on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.
