Arab Championship draw: Zamalek face Ittihad, Al Ahly, Ismaily learn fate
Egyptian clubs Al Ahly, Zamalek, Ismaily, and Ittihad of Alexandria have found out who will they face in the round of 16 of the Arab Club Champions Cup.
All four of the Egyptian teams have qualified for the round of 16, as Ittihad of Alexandria knocked out title holders Esperance, Zamalek and Ismaily beat Kuwaiti sides Al-Qadsia and Al-Kuwait, while Al Ahly thrashed Al-Nejmeh of Lebanon.
Zamalek will face Ittihad of Alexandria in an all-Egyptian encounter after they were drawn against each other in the round of 16.
Both teams have met this season in the league, where Zamalek beat the Alexandrian side 5-1 at Petrosport stadium.
Ismaily were handed a tough draw against Moroccan side Raja Casablanca, with the first encounter to be played in Ismailia, before they meet in Morocco.
Raja defeated Lebanese side Salam Zgharta in order to qualify for this round, and they are also currently in the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Elsewhere, Egyptian champions Al Ahly will play against Emirati side Al Wasl, who surprisingly knocked out Ittihad Jeddah in the first round. The first-leg will take place in Cairo, before both teams face off in UAE.
The other ties see Wydad Casablanca play Étoile du Sahel, ES Sétif face Al-Ahli Jeddah, Al-Hilal play Iraqi side Al-Naft, and Sudan’s Al-Merrikh host USM Alger.
