PAOK beat Shikabala’s Apollon 2-0
Shikabala was unable to make the difference off the bench against his former club as PAOK defeated Apollon 2-0 with goals at each end of the game.
PAOK XI: Paschalakis, Matos, Varela, Crespo, Vieirinha, Mauricio, Shakhov, Jaba, Pelkas, Biseswar, Prijovic.
Apollon Smyrni XI: Huanderson, Stathis, Vafeas, Tzanetopoulos, Fonsi, Kontoes, Thomas, Kone, D’Urso, Triadis, Mantzios.
PAOK went into the game knowing that a win would put them at the league’s summit provided that Atromitos didn’t overtake them on goal difference.
While the game was billed as the clash of the Egyptians in Greece, neither started the game as Shikabala was on the bench and Amr Warda remains injured.
PAOK started the game well as Mauricio broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, assisted by Pelkas. Shikabala entered the action in the 68th minute, but he was unable to change the outcome as PAOK doubled their lead through Crespo in the dying minutes, as the game finished 2-0.
The result means that PAOK are top of the league, while Apollon remain in last place with no points.
