Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: Koka's Olympiacos suffer defeat at AC Milan

KingFut rounds up the Pharaohs Abroad action this week to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.

– Al Raed (Saudi Arabia)

October 4 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Atwa played the full 90 minutes as Al Raed defeated Al Feiha 3-0 in the fifth fixture of the Saudi Pro League. Following the win, Al Raed occupy the tenth league spot with five points ahead of their encounter against Al Fateh on the 19th of October.

– Olympiacos (Greece)

October 4 – UEFA Europa League – Koka was left on the bench as Olympiacos lost 3-1 to AC Milan in the second round of the UEFA Europa League group-stages. Despite taking the lead after 14 minutes through Miguel Angel Guerrero, the Greek side collapsed dramatically as they conceded three goals within nine minutes through Patrick Cutrone, who scored twice, and Gonzalo Higuain. Olympiacos are now third in Group F with one point from two games, ahead of their double-header against Luxembourg’s F91 Dudelange.

– PAOK (Greece)

October 4 – UEFA Europa League – Amr Warda was excluded from the squad as PAOK comfortably beat BATE Borisov 4-1 in the second round of UEFA Europa League group stages. The visitors took a very early lead after six minutes through Alexander Prijovic, before Leo Jaba scored a brace with six minutes to put them 3-0 ahead. BATE pulled one back around the hour mark when Jose Angel Crespo scored an own goal, before Dimitris Pelkas secured the victory for PAOK, scoring their fourth goal in the 73rd minute. PAOK jumped to the second place with three points before playing MOL Vidi in the next two rounds.

Mohamed Abdelshafy – Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia)

October 5 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Abdelshafy provided an assist for Al Ahli Jeddah as they beat Al Faisaly 2-0 at home. It took Al Ahli 10 minutes to take the lead as Abdelshafy launched a perfect cross for Omar Soma inside the box to head in and score the opener. Following the victory, Al Ahli stand top the table with 13 points ahead, however Second place Al Hilal still has a game in hand. Their next encounter will be away against Al Etifaq on the 20th of October.

Hussien El-Shahat – Al Ain (UAE)

October 5 – UAE Pro-League – Hussein El-Shahat played the full 90 minutes as Al Ain drew with Al Fujairah 2-2 in the Arabian Gulf League. Marcus Berg opened the scoring for Al Ain in the 15th minute. Then just five minutes before the end of the first half Mohamed Benyettou scored the equalizer for Al Fujairah. In the 78th minute, Ibrahim Diaky scored for Al Ain, but ten minutes later Khaled Al Blooshi scored the equalizer. Following this result, Al Ain are currently third on the Arabian Gulf League table with 12 points, they will face Al Jazira in their next game in the Etisalat Cup on October 10.

Mohamed Awad – Al Wehda (Saudi Arabia)

October 6 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Awad manned his net with a cleansheet as Al Wehda beat Al Qadisya 1-0 in the fifth fixture of the Saudi Professional league. Ahmed Abo Jaber scored a last-gasp winner for Awad’s side which raised the team to the fourth place with nine points. Al Wehda’s next encounter will be home against Al Feiha at 18th of October.

Ahmed Hegazi – West Brom (England)

October 6 – English Championship – West Bromwich Albion came back from behind to defeat Reading 4-1 in the 12th fixture of the Championship. Dwight Gayle’s brace and strikes from Harvey Barnes and Kyle Bartley earned the Baggies the full three points. Following the win, West Brom occupy the second league spot with 24 points and will face Sam Morsy’s Wigan next week.

Sam Morsy – Wigan Athletic (England)

October 6 – English Championship – Sam Morsy played the full 90 minutes, as Preston North End thrashed Wigan 4-0 in the 12th Championship fixture. Wigan’s Darron Gibson got sent off in the 56th minute. After the loss, the Latics occupy the tenth league spot with 17 points ahead of their clash against Ahmed Hegazi’s West Bromwich Albion.

Ahmed Elmohamady – Aston Villa (England)

October 6 – English Championship – Egypt’s captain Ahmed Elmohamady featured in Aston Villa’s 2-1 loss against Millwall in the 12th fixture of the Championship. Following the loss, the Villans sit 14th and are set to face Swansea City on the 20th of October.

Ramadan Sobhi – Huddersfield Town (England)

October 6 – English Premier League – Ramadan Sobhi continued missing from Huddersfield Town’s squad due to injury as they drew 1-1 against Burnley in the eighth fixture of the Premier League. Sam Vokes took the lead for the Clarets in the 20th minute. However, Christopher Schindler levelled things up in the second half. After the draw, the Terriers occupy the 18th league spot with three points and will face Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool on Oct. 20.

Aly Ghazal – Vancouver Whitecaps FC (USA)

October 7 – MLS – Aly Ghazal played 75 minutes as Vancouver Whitecaps defeated Toronto FC 2-1 in the 31st fixture of the MLS. The Egyptian international was shown a yellow card in the 34th minute. The win takes Vancouver to the 14th spot with 43 points before facing Sporting Kansas City on the 18th of October.

Mohamed Elneny – Arsenal (England)

October 7– English Premier League –Mohamed Elneny was excluded from the squad as Arsenal thrashed Fulham 5-1 in the eighth fixture of the English Premier League. This massive victory takes the Gunners to the fourth league spot with 18 points ahead of their anticipated match against Leicester City.

Ahmed Hassan Koka – Olympiacos (Greece)

October 7– Greek Super League – Olympiacos was held to a 1-1 draw against AEK Athens as Ahmed Hassan Koka featured for 85 minutes. In the first half, both teams had their fair share of the ball but AEK Athens were more threatening as they hit the post in the 22nd minute. In the second half, Fortounis scored a screamer from outside the box to give Olympiacos the lead. Minutes before the full-time, Bakasetas equalized for the home team to deny Olympiacos the three points. Olympiacos’ next match will be in the league against OFI Crete FC on 21/10.

Karim Hafez – İstanbul Başakşehir (Turkey)

October 7– Turkish Super League –Karim Hafez excluded from the squad as Fenerbahce held Istanbul Basaksehir to a goalless draw in the eighth fixture of the Turkish League. Following the draw, Hafez’s side sit second with 15 points, just three points behind the league leaders Galatasaray and are set to face Kayserispor on Oct. 20.

Bassem Morsy – AE Larissa (Greece)

October 8– Greek Super League –Xanthi defeated AE Larissa 1-0 in the sixth fixture of the Greek League as Bassem Morsy missed the game through suspension. Larissa was brought down to nine men, as Nikola Zizic and Nikolaos Karanikas got sent off during the game. Following the loss, Larissa occupy the 10th league spot with six points ahead of their encounter against Lamia on the 20th of October.
