VIDEO: El-Sheikh’s late goal helps Al Ahly survive El-Tersana cup scare
Al Ahly have qualified for the round of 16 of the Egypt Cup after a tough 3-2 victory over El-Tersana on Wednesday at El-Salam stadium.
The Reds will now face Pyramids FC in the round of 16 after the latter beat second division side Tanta 3-2 on Tuesday.
Despite facing a second division side, the game wasn’t easy for Al Ahly at all, in fact, El-Tersana were the ones to open the scoring early through Hesham Ragab, who headed in a corner, only four minutes after the start.
Mohamed Sherif equalised for Al Ahly in the 37th minute after Ahmed Hamdy’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper, and Sherif scored off the rebound.
The Red Devils continued to miss a handful of opportunities and waste numerous chances, and El-Tersana punished them with a counter-attack goal through Amr Tarek.
Mohamed Sherif was Al Ahly’s saviour again, scoring another equaliser in the 71st minute after receiving a manifest pass from Ahmed Yasser Rayan.
Minutes before the full-time whistle, Substitute Ahmed El-Sheikh scored the winner for Al Ahly in his first game of the season, tapping in Islam Mohareb’s free-kick.
